Job Title: Service Technician
Job Description
The Service Technician prepares, maintains, and repairs mobile office trailers and related units, ensuring they are safe, functional, and ready for delivery. This role involves hands-on work with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and general repairs, as well as loading and unloading furniture and performing basic grounds maintenance. The technician follows daily work orders, diagnoses and troubleshoots issues, and consistently works with a strong safety mindset.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret daily work instructions and work orders to plan and organize tasks for the day.
- Prepare trailers and units for delivery, ensuring they are clean, safe, and fully functional.
- Perform maintenance on units and furniture, including inspection, repair, and replacement of components as needed.
- Load and unload furniture and materials safely and efficiently from trailers and storage areas.
- Use hand and power tools to perform repairs and servicing on mobile office trailers and units.
- Carry out basic grounds maintenance in the yard and surrounding areas to maintain a clean and orderly worksite.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with trailers, units, and furniture, identifying root causes and appropriate repair methods.
- Perform framing and finish carpentry work on mobile office trailers, including structural and trim repairs.
- Complete electrical repairs such as changing light fixtures, electrical outlets, and related components in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Repair and install drywall and ceiling tiles, ensuring a professional and durable finish.
- Perform flooring repairs and replacements to maintain safe and presentable surfaces within units.
- Carry out plumbing repairs and maintenance, including fixtures and basic piping within mobile office trailers.
- Conduct painting and touch-up work on interiors and exteriors to improve appearance and protect surfaces.
- Use carpentry, construction, welding, framing, pressure washing, and other trade skills as needed to complete repairs.
- Read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting, fitting, and installing materials.
- Report issues, repair needs, and completed work clearly and promptly to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a strong safety mindset throughout the day, following safety procedures and using required protective equipment.
- Handle materials and equipment in a manner that minimizes damage and supports safe operations.
- Lift, carry, and move items weighing 50 pounds or more as part of daily tasks.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform hands-on repairs and maintenance.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret tape measures with accuracy for cutting and fitting materials.
- Capability to read and interpret work orders and follow detailed instructions.
- Experience with carpentry, including framing and finish carpentry tasks.
- Basic electrical skills, including changing light fixtures and electrical outlets.
- Knowledge of drywall installation and repair, including ceiling tiles.
- Ability to perform painting and touch-up work on various surfaces.
- Basic plumbing skills for repairs and maintenance in mobile office trailers.
- Familiarity with construction practices and general repair work.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills when completing tasks.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds or more and perform manual labor throughout the workday.
