We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining payroll records, and handling payroll inquiries. The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-state payroll, including compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Experience with Workday is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle payroll for salaried, hourly, and contract employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Verify payroll data, including hours worked, wage rates, deductions, and withholdings.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
- Process new hires, terminations, promotions, and payroll adjustments.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accuracy in employee benefits, time off, and deductions.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of payroll-related tax filings (e.g., W-2s, 941 forms).
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings and wage/hour laws.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll regulations and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of payroll experience; multi-state payroll experience is preferred.
- System Experience: Experience with Workday or similar payroll/HRIS software is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Workday payroll system.
- Knowledge of tax compliance and regulations across multiple states.
- Experience with payroll reconciliations and reporting.
