POSITION SUMMARY:
The Garnishment Specialist is a key member of our Payroll Operations team that is dedicated to the overall success of BBSI’s branches and internal teams. The primary objective of the position is to process and respond to garnishment orders, while providing information and guidance to employees, branches, and internal teams, primarily in the areas of garnishments and related payroll. This position ensures effective, compliant, and efficient garnishment processing for a high volume of employees in partnership with branch payroll teams.
This person must demonstrate solid understanding of garnishment processing and basic payroll best practices.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Payroll Operations Manager and works in partnership with other operations positions, as well as providing direct support and accountability to field teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Full cycle garnishment processing including, mail intake, order entry and responding to court ordered wage garnishments, including child support, student loans, bankruptcy orders, state and federal tax levies.
Utilize multiple systems to research and respond to written, electronic or telephone inquiries from employees, courts, state and federal agencies and others regarding garnishment orders.
Provide guidance and support to BBSI payroll personnel located throughout the country on garnishment processes and procedures, escalated/complex issues, and system related questions.
Collaborate with others to innovate and drive improvements that make our processes more effective and efficient while remaining compliant.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of garnishment payments via check and/or EFT.
Cross train in various aspects of Payroll Operations to provide a broad range of support to the team.
Data entry and file maintenance including assisting with new hire and termination reporting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the various types of garnishments including local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations relating to garnishments. At least 2 years of relevant garnishment experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic payroll processing procedures, preferably experience in multi-state payroll (including California).
Strong customer skills.
Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions.
Comfortable with working multiple systems/programs/websites at same time; proficiency in MS Excel a plus.
Prior PEO or third-party payroll experience a plus.
Bilingual in Spanish a bonus.

COMPENSATION:
$27.00 - $28.00/hr DOE
