We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the Healthcare/NHS industry, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be tasked with overseeing the payroll process, ensuring compliance with regulations, and handling any payroll-related inquiries.
Responsibilities include:
• Serving as the primary point of contact for all payroll processing activities.
• Ensuring efficient and precise payroll processing in compliance with all internal controls such as bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll, retroactive payments, bonuses, status changes, timesheet verification, new hires, terminations, final checks, special pay adjustments and disbursements, garnishments, W2s, amendments, and reconciliations.
• Analyzing data integrity across the entire payroll lifecycle, identifying and resolving any discrepancies or process breakdowns.
• Processing accurate and timely year-end reporting including W-2’s.
• Diagnosing and assisting in resolutions for internal issues and system problems.
• Keeping up-to-date knowledge of US payroll legislation and internal policies.
• Reviewing and confirming accuracy of all third-party tax payments and garnishments.
• Analyzing and identifying any payroll tax filing discrepancies and working with outsourced payroll vendor to correct any variances.
• Supporting and providing guidance to Payroll/Benefit Specialists on procedures, guidelines, and regulations to ensure they are understood and implemented.
• Training new employees and staff on payroll processes and system functions.
• Collaborating with the Manager on Payroll/Benefit Specialist work load, performance, needs, challenges, and accomplishments.
• Performing any other duties as assigned.• Proven experience working in a payroll specialist role within the healthcare sector or NHS
• In-depth understanding of full cycle payroll operations
• Proficiency in benefits payroll, including tracking and updating employee benefit deductions
• Familiarity with payroll software systems and ability to adapt to new technologies
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with employees and management on payroll-related queries
• Knowledge of payroll tax laws and regulations
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll information
• Ability to work under pressure and meet payroll deadlines
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• High degree of professional integrity and ethical standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Ideally, a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
