We are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join our team located in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. This role provides a contract to permanent employment opportunity and involves executing payroll tasks and managing employee data. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing weekly and off-cycle payrolls, answering payroll-related queries, and maintaining payroll information.
Responsibilities: • Processing weekly and off-cycle payrolls for various wage types across multiple states. • Handling new permanent, termination, and change entries in the HR/Payroll system. • Validating timecards, benefit deductions, and overtime calculations. • Responding to payroll inquiries from internal staff via phone and email. • Preparing and running monthly and quarterly wage and tax reports. • Completing wage verification requests as necessary. • Collaborating within the department to support and complete ad hoc projects. • Managing employee deductions and other liabilities. • Updating payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers. • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines. • Supporting all internal and external audits related to payroll. • Resolving payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Familiarity with Kronos Timekeeping System and About Time
• Knowledge of Accounting Functions and Accounts Payable (AP)
• Capable of Check Processing
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to use Pivot Table and VLOOKUP
• Experience in the automotive industry is a plus
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field preferred
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
• Prior experience in a Payroll Specialist role is advantageous
