Summary: We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a mining organization in Denver, Colorado on a contract to permanent basis with the potential for a permanent role. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close activities, and delivering timely reporting for business operations. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and compliance, along with the ability to work effectively across departments in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities: • Record and post accounting entries while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of general ledger transactions. • Review financial activity, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and analyze profit and loss and cash movement data. • Contribute to monthly and annual close cycles by preparing schedules and completing assigned tasks within established timelines. • Manage accounts payable workflows, including invoice validation, approval tracking, supporting documentation, and payment coordination. • Audit employee expense submissions and reconcile corporate card activity on a recurring basis. • Research variances in financial records, resolve discrepancies, and correct reporting inconsistencies as needed. • Assist with intercompany balancing, recurring management reports, and supporting materials for leadership review. • Prepare audit support schedules, organize requested documentation, and collaborate with external auditors during review periods. • Support tax and regulatory compliance work, including filings related to corporate tax, sales and use tax, and other required reporting. • Partner with operational teams on job costing, budgeting, billing support, fixed asset tracking, and process improvement initiatives.• 3+ years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and hands-on experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
• Experience contributing to close processes, accounts payable activities, and audit preparation.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and related compliance reporting responsibilities.
• Strong analytical ability with careful attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid skills across Microsoft Office applications.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams; Spanish language skills are a plus.
