Job Title: Medical AssistantJob DescriptionThis role provides comprehensive medical assisting support in a fast-paced urgent care and primary care clinic. You will work directly with patients and clinical staff to ensure efficient patient intake, accurate medical documentation, and high-quality care delivery throughout the visit.
Responsibilities- Perform medical assistant duties in an urgent care and primary care clinic setting while supporting providers and nursing staff.
- Collect and verify patient demographics, including personal and contact information, insurance details, and other required registration data.
- Intake patients based on their symptoms, including obtaining a focused history and documenting chief complaints in the electronic medical record.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and other clinical observations as needed.
- Accurately document all patient encounters and clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Use medical terminology correctly when documenting patient information, procedures, and clinical notes.
- Support front desk activities as needed, including patient check-in, check-out, and basic scheduling or follow-up coordination.
- Provide professional, courteous customer service to patients, families, and visitors, ensuring a positive and respectful experience.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and clinic staff to support efficient patient flow, aiming to see 20–30 patients per day.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all healthcare regulations and clinic policies.
- Assist with general clinical tasks within the scope of a medical assistant, such as preparing exam rooms and ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available.
- Participate in a team-oriented environment, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive clinic culture.
Essential Skills- At least 1 year of experience working in a fast-paced clinic environment.
- Experience performing medical assistant duties in a healthcare or urgent care setting.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding and practical use of medical terminology in a clinical setting.
- Ability to accurately obtain and document vital signs and patient intake information.
- Customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and families.
- Experience working in healthcare or medical office environments.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) knowledge or certification, or willingness to obtain if required.
- Ability to manage a steady patient volume and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Preferred but not required: Medical Assistant diploma or formal MA training.
- Preferred but not required: Medical Assistant certification (such as RMA or equivalent).
- Preferred but not required: 1+ years of dedicated medical assistant experience.
- Familiarity with front desk operations in a medical clinic, including check-in, check-out, and scheduling.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Work EnvironmentThis position is fully onsite in a primary care and urgent care clinic that typically sees between 20 and 30 patients per day, offering a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. The clinic utilizes electronic medical record (EMR) and electronic health record (EHR) systems, modern medical equipment, and standard clinical supplies.
