Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a key role in maintaining equipment reliability and supporting plant operations. This experienced technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains production and facility equipment while following all safety, preventive maintenance, and quality standards. The role works with minimal supervision and provides basic training and guidance to less experienced team members.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment to support reliable plant operations.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery, utilities, and facility systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Conduct advanced mechanical troubleshooting, including inspecting machinery, modifying and replacing components, and calculating gearbox ratios.
- Maintain and troubleshoot complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Support utilities such as boilers, compressors, HVAC systems, and dust collectors, and identify and address energy-loss issues.
- Apply knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical principles to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Use electrical tools, including electrical test meters and oscilloscopes, to perform electrical and electronic diagnostics.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting and PLC troubleshooting to restore equipment functionality and improve reliability.
- Interpret and work from schematics and technical documentation to perform accurate repairs and installations.
- Use standard trade tools, including hand tools, power tools, and machine shop tools, to complete maintenance tasks safely and efficiently.
- Perform welding and related fabrication or repair work as needed to support maintenance activities.
- Support and maintain aseptic processing equipment and environments in accordance with established standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and quality standards while performing maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and provide basic training to less experienced technicians.
- Prioritize multiple maintenance tasks and work orders to meet operational needs and deadlines.
- Document maintenance activities accurately and communicate equipment status and issues to relevant stakeholders.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance and preventive maintenance in a production or plant environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform advanced mechanical troubleshooting and component replacement.
- Ability to maintain and troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam systems.
- Knowledge of utilities systems, including boilers, compressors, HVAC, and dust collection equipment.
- Ability to identify and address energy-loss issues in utilities and facility systems.
- Proficiency in using standard trade tools, including hand tools, power tools, and machine shop tools.
- Knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical principles applied to industrial equipment.
- Ability to use electrical tools, including electrical test meters and oscilloscopes, for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting in an industrial or facilities environment.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting to support automated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation.
- Welding skills sufficient to support maintenance and repair tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex equipment issues.
- High level of attention to detail in performing maintenance and documenting work.
