Field Service Technician I – Washington, D.C. Area

Pay: $29.00–$35.00 per hour
Overtime: Eligible
Travel: Up to 80%, including overnight travel
Required Test: Human Performance Test
Position Summary
Quest International is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician I to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical equipment at hospitals, laboratories, industrial facilities, and other customer locations.
This is a travel-intensive field position.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations for equipment installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance using approved procedures and diagnostic tools.
- Diagnose failures involving FRUs, modules, circuit boards, power supplies, sensors, motors, wiring, connectors, harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.
- Use digital multimeters, hand tools, power tools, and other approved test equipment.
- Read and follow service manuals, diagrams, SOPs, safety requirements, and customer-site procedures.
- Verify equipment operation after service and escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
- Complete accurate service reports, work orders, parts records, test results, photographs, and customer updates.
- Communicate professionally with customers, technical support, service leadership, and other Quest teams.
- Independently manage customer appointments, travel, tools, documentation, and changing service assignments.
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of professional hands-on experience in field service, equipment repair, industrial maintenance, electronics repair, medical equipment service, automotive diagnostics, appliance repair, installation, or another electro-mechanical technical role.
- Professional experience using a digital multimeter or comparable diagnostic tool.
- Experience working with wiring, connectors, harnesses, circuit boards, electronic components, equipment modules, or mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, service procedures, and safety instructions.
- Strong customer-service, communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
- Ability to meet applicable work-related automobile-insurance requirements.
- Ability to travel up to 80%, including overnight assignments, early departures, late returns, and changing schedules.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical field-service work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Compensation expectations within the approved $24.00–$29.00 hourly range.
- Willingness to accept full-time, temp-to-hire employment and complete the Human Performance Test.

- Remote Desktop or another approved support tool
- Electronic service reports, photographs, manuals, and diagnostic files
Preferred Experience
Experience with medical, diagnostic, laboratory, industrial, professional A/V, optical, manufacturing, or OEM equipment is preferred. Additional value includes BMET, electronics, automotive, aviation, robotics, mechatronics, industrial-maintenance, trade-school, or military technical training.
