Foot and Ankle Specialists of Illinois (FASI) is hiring an experienced Medical Assistant for our busy, patient-focused medical and surgical podiatry practice.
This is a hands-on clinical role supporting physicians, helping maintain efficient patient flow, and delivering excellent patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The right candidate will be organized, dependable, clinically confident, and comfortable working side by side with physicians, medical assistants, front desk, billing, and management.
What You’ll Do
- Own the Clinical Flow: Room patients, prepare charts, update histories, document visit information, and help keep the clinic moving efficiently throughout the day.
- Support Providers Directly: Assist physicians during exams, procedures, wound care, injections, casting, splinting, DME dispensing, and other in-office treatments.
- Take Accurate Clinical Information: Take vitals, review medications, obtain medical histories, confirm the reason for visit, and document accurately in the EMR.
- Command the EMR: Use ModMed EMR and other technology platforms to document visits, input clinical data, prepare orders, upload forms, and support follow-up tasks.
- Prepare and Maintain Exam Rooms: Clean, stock, and prepare rooms between patients while keeping supplies, instruments, and equipment organized.
- Educate Patients with Clarity: Reinforce provider instructions, explain treatment plans, review next steps, and help patients feel informed and comfortable.
- Maintain HIPAA-Compliant Documentation: Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, timely, organized, and compliant with privacy requirements.
- Coordinate with the Team: Work closely with physicians, front desk, billing, and management to support patient flow, scheduling, DME, procedures, and follow-up care.
- Elevate the Patient Experience: Communicate clearly, anticipate patient needs, and help create a calm, professional, and caring environment from start to finish.
- Improve the Process: Spot inefficiencies, communicate issues early, and help improve clinical workflows as the practice grows.
What You Bring
- 3+ Years of Medical Assistant Experience: Prior experience in a fast-paced medical office, outpatient clinic, or procedural practice is strongly preferred.
- Clinical or Private Practice Experience: Experience in a clinical outpatient setting is required; private practice experience is preferred.
- Procedural Comfort: Comfortable rooming patients, assisting providers, documenting visits, preparing exam rooms, and supporting in-office procedures.
- Podiatry or Orthopedic Experience Preferred: Prior podiatry, orthopedic, dermatology, wound care, urgent care, chiropractic, PT, or other procedural specialty experience is a plus.
- EMR/EHR Experience: Experience with EMRs such as ModMed, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Epic, Athena, or similar systems preferred.
- Tech Savvy: Ability to learn ModMed EMR and our other technology platforms within 30 days of hire.
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to communicate professionally with patients, physicians, clinical staff, front desk, billing, and management.
- Highly Organized: Able to manage multiple priorities, stay on task, follow through, and maintain accuracy during busy clinic days.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate with documentation, patient instructions, orders, supplies, and clinical follow-through.
- Composure Under Pressure: Calm, professional, and patient-focused even during high-volume clinic flow.
- Service-First Attitude: You anticipate needs, think ahead, and prioritize both patient care and provider support.
- Ownership Mentality: You do not just complete tasks — you look for ways to improve the workflow, support the team, and make the day run better.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCMA certification or equivalent medical assistant certification preferred.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
- Podiatry, orthopedic, wound care, or procedural clinic experience is a strong plus.
