Field Service Technician

Position Overview
The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration systems, and HVAC equipment at client locations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and delivering high-quality service across assigned sites.
Technicians serve as front-line representatives of IMC and are expected to provide professional, reliable, and solution-oriented service in fast-paced environments such as restaurant operations.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Diagnosis & Repair
- Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen equipment (fryers, grills, ovens, dish machines, etc.)
- Service refrigeration systems including walk-ins, reach-ins, and ice machines
- Perform HVAC diagnostics and basic repairs (RTUs, split systems, airflow systems)
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement effective solutions
Preventative Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment
- Replace filters, belts, and standard wear components
- Inspect systems to prevent future failures and extend equipment lifespan
Service Documentation
- Accurately document all service work, diagnostics, and repairs
- Record parts used and submit service reports in a timely manner
- Provide clear communication on recommended repairs or replacements
Client Interaction
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor on-site
- Communicate clearly with operators and staff
- Work efficiently with minimal disruption to business operations
- Represent IMC with a high level of professionalism
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines
- Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures
- Handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations
- Use proper PPE and maintain a safe work environment
Vehicle & Inventory Management
- Maintain service vehicle organization and cleanliness
- Keep commonly used parts stocked
- Manage tools and report inventory needs
- Ensure readiness for all service calls
Scheduling & Time Management
- Arrive on time and manage service routes efficiently
- Prioritize urgent and emergency service requests
- Communicate delays or updates proactively
- Complete work orders within expected timeframes
Qualifications
- Experience with commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC, or refrigeration systems
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- EPA Certification (required for refrigeration work)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
