SPECIAL EDUCATION POSITION for High School

Position: Special Education Teacher
Location:Cambridge, MD
Duration:24/25 school year, full time (37.5 hours a week)
Caseload:Elementary School, 5-10 students,Classroom setting Combination of general education and special education, dependent on student IEPs, Para support will be provided; further specifics will be discussed during interview;

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Customize instructional approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities effectively.
• Employ a variety of teaching methods and innovative technologies to actively engage students in learning.
• Monitor student progress closely and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, counselors, and specialists to support student learning.
• Maintain consistent and open communication with parents/guardians regarding student achievements and educational goals.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
• Possession of a valid Maryland Special Education Teaching License or eligibility to obtain one.
• Demonstrated experience working with students who have diverse learning needs.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing personalized IEPs to meet individual student requirements.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment commonly used in special education.
• Knowledge of effective behavior management techniques and positive behavior supports.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment, contributing effectively to educational planning and implementation.
