Position Title: Special Education Teacher

Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our elementary school team in Summerville, SC. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting students with diverse learning needs, creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment, and collaborating with staff and families to ensure the success of every student.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Modify and adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the individual needs of students.
• Provide direct instruction and support in academic, social, and behavioral areas.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
• Conduct assessments to evaluate students' progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' progress and IEP goals.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and engage them in the educational process.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
• Valid South Carolina teaching certification in Special Education.
• Experience working with elementary school students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
• Patience, flexibility, and a passion for helping students achieve their full potential.
