As a Service Field Engineer (SFE), you will play a major role within our Service Department, providing expert assistance to clients through both remote and onsite support for complex AV systems. Your strong communication skills are vital for client interactions, conveying technical updates effectively to clients and colleagues. This position involves comprehensive testing, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning of Audio Visual equipment, ensuring optimal performance both individually and as an integrated system, aligned with the design intent. Above all, you will thrive in this role as a positive, dedicated team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Engineering Department and Service Manager to ensure audio and visual systems are functioning per design.
- Able to work directly with various manufactures to troubleshoot equipment onsite and if needed start the process for RMA
- Troubleshoot and commission AV systems in both field and remote settings.
- Optimize settings in various AV equipment to ensure systems operate as designed, considering differences in audio, video, displays, control, and networking.
- Provide simple code and touch panel updates under the direction of the assigned programmer.
- Ability to load DSP files and fine tune audio system to clients needs
- Stay updated on the latest technology, firmware updates, and common field issues.
- Diagnose known and found Audio Visual problems and formulate effective solutions.
- Advanced capabilities for troubleshooting different VC platforms; Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco, Polycom and other platforms as needed
- Ability to field test and resolve issues with AV control program, hardware configuration equipment and control program as per design brief in a logical manner
- Collaboration and coordination with various stakeholders to ensure project success
Physical Demands:
- Regular exposure to construction site conditions; responsible for complying with safety regulations and using necessary PPE.
- Ability to spend a significant portion of time on feet and mobile around construction sites.
- Occasional climbing of ladders, use of stairs, and lifting/moving materials up to 40 pounds in construction areas.
- Vision abilities for close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision as well as regular use of keyboards and test equipment.
Travel:
- Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites are necessary
Education/Certifications:
- Networking knowledge and/or certifications desired
- Two or more years of directly related experience as a Field Engineer
- AVIXA CTS Certification is desired
- AVIXA CTS-D or CTS-I is desired
- DSP certification from one or more of the following manufacturers: Biamp, Shure and QSC
- Level one programming/configuration certification from Crestron and/or Extron
Required/Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- Excellent Verbal and Written English Skills, with good customer service abilities
- Field installation and/or system design experience is desirable
- Familiarity with audio, video, and network-based systems and equipment
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex Audio Visual technical problems
