Duties and Responsibilities
1. Responsible for their respective locations by processing and reviewing day to day processes to ensure they are complete and accurate.
2. Prepare and/or review general ledger account reconciliations, revenue and expense analysis including margin analysis, and perform other assigned daily financial reporting and month-end closing duties.
3. Prepare and/or review journal entries, including monthly accruals, site allocations, etc.
4. Help to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures, including with respect to internal controls over financial reporting.
5. Obtain specified required supporting documentation for not only accounting purposes but other departments in which these should either be maintained or forwarded to the appropriate team.
6. Completes and maintains specified accounting transactional forms and/or reporting and records certain entries accurately and efficiently, including those for audit purposes.
7. Audit transactions performed by others and/or financial data for accuracy, reasonableness, and procedural compliance. Such as following all security guidelines and procedures including being alert to walkouts, drive offs, and thefts to ensure entries are properly recorded and the appropriate individuals and/or departments notified, receives, and maintains proper cash accountability, ensuring funds are secure and accurately accounted for, etc.
8. Willingly helps other team members when needed.
9. Assists the Audit department, A/R Department, A/P Department, Field Accounting Department, amongst other HQ Departments with questions related to TA/Petro/QSL operations without a SAR.
Qualifications
1. Associate degree in accounting, related field, or equivalent experience required.
2. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3. Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products a plus.
5. Familiarity with 10 key by touch, typing skills, and other basic bookkeeping skills (filing, report review, phone, fax, email, etc.).
6. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and be effective with time management.
7. Detail-orientated, problem solver, analytical, and proactive.
8. Familiarity with integrated financial systems preferred but not required, SAP is a plus.
9. Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and familiarity with public accounting/company a plus.
Working Conditions
Site Accountants typically work 8 hour shifts from the home office in Westlake, OH. These shifts typically range from Monday through Friday and require little to no travel. Due to the timing of month end, weekend shifts and/or overtime are sometimes required but are communicated to the team in advance.
