Responsibilities:
• Accurately process payroll for employees and manage employee benefits programs
• Collaborate with Human Resources for accurate payroll processing, including timesheet review, benefit deductions, and payroll tax filings
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding payroll and health benefits
• Assist with year-end financial closing processes and provide insights to support decision-making
• Manage accounts payable by processing vendor invoices and ensuring timely payments
• Handle accounts receivable, including preparation and distribution of invoices to donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders, and ensure timely collection of outstanding receivables
• Collaborate with team members and managers to collect timesheets for grant-funded projects and analyze timesheet data for compliance with grant requirements
• Prepare reports and documentation related to timesheets for grant reporting purposes
• Accurately record check deposits and other financial transactions in the accounting system
• Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and intercompany transactions
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
• Prepare financial reports for grants, contracts, and other funding sources, ensuring compliance with funder requirements
• Support the annual audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
• Track and report on restricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor restrictions and grant agreements
• Prepare financial reports and documentation for grant submissions and compliance requirements
• Work closely with program staff to ensure accurate allocation of expenses to grants and projects
• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining internal control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency
• Perform other accounting duties and projects as assigned by management.
• Must possess a minimum of two years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role
• Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations is necessary
• Must have a clear understanding of General Ledger processes
• Ability to handle Journal Entries is required
• Familiarity with Month End Close procedures
• Proficiency in using NetSuite software is expected
• Experience with Oracle software is desirable
• Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software is required
• SAP software proficiency is a must
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must adhere to high ethical standards and comply with all regulations applicable to the industry.
