We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team located in Santee, California. This role is crucial in maintaining financial procedures and ensuring all financial data is accurately reported. The Staff Accountant will be a part of a team that is responsible for a variety of tasks, ranging from preparing financial reports to managing the general ledger.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to GAAP
• Oversee the month-end close process to ensure all financial data is accurately reported
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monitor actual vs. budgeted performance
• Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger to ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions
• Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections
• Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations
• Prepare and file all necessary tax returns, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax
• Ensure accurate accounting for prepaid expenses, including tracking and allocating costs appropriately
• Track project costs and analyze profitability to provide insights into cost control and margin improvement
• Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
• Provide detailed financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions
• Coordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits
• Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
• Must hold a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required.
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations is essential.
• Familiarity with General Ledger management is a must.
• Ability to handle Journal Entries is necessary.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures is essential.
