Colleen at Robert Half 408.906.0669 is looking for a general ledger accountant to join our team in the construction and contracting industry in Oakland, California, United States. In this role, you will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supervising Accounts Payable, billings/Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze journal entries

• Conduct thorough account analysis and reconciliation

• Manage the preparation of periodic financial statements

• Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the annual budget

• Consolidate various operating units and joint ventures

• Interface with external auditors as needed

• Supervise Accounts Payable, Billings/Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions

• Conduct budget variance analysis

• Prepare various governmental filings

• Undertake special projects in accounting as they arise.

• Must possess at least 3 years of experience in a similar role within the Construction/Contractor industry.

• Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations.

• Extensive knowledge of General Ledger management and Journal Entries.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience in month-end close processes.

• Proficient in Journal Entry management.

• Knowledge of Viewpoint Vista software is highly desired

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and standards.

• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
