We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a System Administrator based in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The role involves extensive work with both physical and virtual servers, ensuring system operability and security. This includes configuring and monitoring backups, updating and testing software and operating system patches. This role is also responsible for administering on-premises Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, along with providing support for Windows and Linux Operating Systems.

Responsibilities:

• Install new servers and rebuild existing ones, both physical and virtual, ensuring their smooth operation and security.
• Monitor VMWare infrastructure for potential issues and troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise.
• Administer on-premises Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, managing access control lists, security groups, permissions, and structure of current file shares.
• Work with other IT Teams and staff to update legacy systems and provide support for Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
• Develop and maintain scripts, primarily built on PowerShell, that automate the user lifecycle, including HRIS integration.
• Monitor and maintain the health of the Domain Naming System; troubleshoot and resolve DNS related issues.
• Make recommendations for new systems including physical and virtual servers, storage devices, and backup power devices.
• Configure and monitor backups, resolving issues that cause missed backups, adding new systems to the backup schedule, and handling restore requests as needed.
• Secure Windows and Linux operating systems following IT security best practices.
• Provide team support, maintaining a positive working environment with IT colleagues and users.• Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a System Administrator
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Amazon EC2 and Auto Scaling
• Solid understanding and experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management
• Proven experience with Atlassian Jira for project management and issue tracking
• Proficiency in AWS Technologies for cloud services
• Demonstrable experience in API Development
• Familiarity with Backup Technologies for data protection and recovery
• Experience with Cluster Analysis for system optimization
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
