Scope:
The Network System Administrator works alongside other IT team members to plan, install, update, and troubleshoot IT, network, and security infrastructure. Together the team maintains a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. Additionally, this position coordinates with team members to ensure the timely and effective completion of IT helpdesk tickets. This position also works with team members to implement and manage IT and cybersecurity projects for the organization.
Job Duties:
· Support, configure and maintain, when necessary, networks, hardware and system applications.
· Monitor network performance and process updates when necessary.
· Provide strategic IT planning including backup and disaster recovery, cybersecurity, monitoring, auditing, and compliance.
· Set up user accounts, permissions and password management.
· Assist in the development and implementation of network policies and procedures.
· Troubleshoot and resolve company and end user support issues.
· Ensure operational status of company computer systems and related third party interfaces.
· Follow all regulations, policies, and codes and comply with security and safety regulations.
· Provide support and guidance to all team members and departments for IT-related projects and processes daily.
· Develop, review, and implement technical design, construction, and delivery of companywide technology solutions.
· Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents. Use discretion in handling confidential information and follow all federal, state, and local laws and company policies for document control.
· Optimize messaging platforms including M365 Exchange and Microsoft Teams.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
· Acquired and demonstrated use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
· Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
· Strong ability to accurately complete complex tasks efficiently and thoroughly.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software, Windows Client Operating Systems, Windows Server Operating Systems, Active Directory and Cloud Services such as Office 365, Azure and AWS.
· Experience with firewalls, internet VPNs remote implementations and configuration of hardware.
· Proficiency in visual design tools, HTML, CSS, SQL and JavaScript.
· Exceptional time management and organizational skills including prioritization of tasks under strict deadlines, and the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
· Strong customer service, interpersonal, verbal, written, and troubleshooting skills.
· Professional certification/membership may be required within the first year of moving into this classification.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field with 5 or more years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Additional Responsibilities include:
· Protects system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.
· Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities and reporting violations.
· Implements security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
· Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
· Upgrades system by implementing and maintaining security controls.
· Keeps users informed by preparing performance reports and communicating system status.
· Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
· Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
· Stays up to date on IT and cybersecurity requirements and compliance for the federal government and government contractors.
· Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing duties, responsibilities, and projects as needed.
· Coordinates with IT team to prioritize, complete, and document help desk tickets within the agreed upon time frames.
· Collects data and reports on IT team metrics.
· Manage, install, maintain, and upgrade software and licenses.
· Maintain asset inventory.
· Communicate regular updates on tasks and projects to supervisor and key stakeholders and customers.
· Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
· Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
· Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Physical Requirements
Mobility to work in typical office setting and use standard office equipment; stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate.
