JOB SUMMARY
This role provides advice and counsel to leaders to address performance and behavioral matters affecting productivity and engagement. All recommended solutions will promote OrthoVirginia’s values of compassion, excellence, and unity, as well as ensure mitigation of risk. This role has enterprise-wide responsibility for HR Compliance policy development, is the point person for related HR policies and maintenance, provides oversight of compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations, and monitors external trends and practices impacting OrthoVirginia’s people practices.
Job-Specific Responsibilities
Manage and resolve employee relations issues related to job performance and/or workplace behavior; actions may include any combination of counseling and coaching, formal corrective action, and disciplinary actions including dismissal recommendations
Develop an employee relations decision making rationale, including tools and resources, to be used across a variety of situations, always balancing compassion, accountability, an expectation of excellence, and risk mitigation
Identify trends, develop insights and partner with others to enhance knowledge, skills, training and/or policies that enhance performance and engagement.
Build strong relationships with leadership developing a deep understanding of the business needs of the organization and increase awareness of the employee experience
Engage in collaborative approach with HR partners, ensuring internal HR subject matter expertise fully utilized bringing both HR knowledge to the client and client needs back to HR
Conduct site visits in order to provide in person presence on a regular basis varying from minimum 1x per year for micro-sites to multiple in-person visits for mega-sites
Stay apprised, conduct research and develop policies and practices to address workplace matters and regulatory requirements while also promoting OrthoVirginia’s values, mission, and vision
In partnership with leadership development trainers, prepare and deliver education and guidance to build leadership capability to proactively address workplace matters disrupting productivity and engagement
Participate in organizational assessments led by HRBP team members, collaborate on developing and delivering solutions which may include actions such as targeted exit interviews, ongoing reporting, work redesign, etc.
Develop tools and reporting systems for the effective tracking and reporting of all employee relations matters
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience/Education/Certifications:
Seven to ten years in employee relations or HR generalist roles
SHRM certification preferrable
BA in related field preferrable (business administration, human resources management, I/O psychology, public relations, public administration, political science)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of human resources principles, policies, practices, laws and regulations
Able to employ empathetic objectiveness, balancing compassion in the pursuit of accountability and excellence for all OrthoVirginia team members
Demonstrated experience with record keeping, ensuring all data related to matters archived and accessible when needed
Possess a positive, service-oriented attitude with excellent follow-through on issues
Demonstrated critical thinking, data management, and analytical skills
Ability to collaborate with team members to move matters and projects forward equally as much as the ability to work independently and make progress
Location:
This role is a hybrid role. The incumbent will be permitted to use a home office as a base location, but regular travel to OrthoVirginia sites will be required.
