We are seeking a diligent Paralegal to be part of our team located in Wheaton, Illinois. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in managing and maintaining electronic files and dockets for the litigation team, drafting routine court filings, and assisting attorneys with all phases of discovery. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently manage and maintain electronic file and docket for litigation team, ensuring all pleadings are indexed and hearings as well as deadlines are calendared.
• Effectively e-file pleadings in state, federal, and appellate courts.
• Draft routine court filings, discovery documents, and correspondence for attorney review and use.
• Provide daily administrative and logistical support for assigned matters, including interactions with clients and courts, deposition and meeting scheduling, opening new matters, and drafting engagement letters.
• Precisely cite check, format, and proofread pleadings, memorandums, and briefs, and prepare tables of contents and tables of authority for the same.
• Assist attorneys with all phases of discovery, including preparation of templates, drafting and formatting requests and responses, setting up e-discovery projects for review and coding, running document productions from e-discovery platforms, and maintaining production indices.
• Coordinate with attorneys for deposition preparation, including preparing exhibits, coordinating reporting services and deposition locations, and preparing subpoenas and subject matter riders.
• Assist with trial preparation, including preparing witness lists, exhibit lists, and trial notebooks.
• Communicate and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and other professionals involved in litigation matters.
• Undertake other tasks and research projects as assigned.
• Track and enter own time for billable tasks performed.• Proven experience as a Paralegal or in a similar role
• Proficiency in Case Management Software
• Experience with e-Filing and Court Filings
• Familiarity with Pre-trials procedures
• Experience as a Litigation Paralegal
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Strong research and report-writing skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Bachelor's degree in law or related field is preferred
• Professional certification in paralegal studies is a plus
