Job Description
Sunbelt Staffing is partnering with a student-focused school district in the Durham, North Carolina area to hire an Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher for a full-time contract assignment. This position is an excellent opportunity for an educator who enjoys developing individualized learning experiences, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and empowering students to reach their academic and personal goals. What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver specialized instruction designed to meet each student's unique learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Partner with general education teachers to create accommodations and modifications that support student achievement
- Track student growth through assessments, progress monitoring, and data analysis
- Foster a structured, encouraging classroom culture that promotes independence and confidence
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress
- Attend IEP meetings, eligibility reviews, and other collaborative planning sessions

Required Qualifications
- Active North Carolina Exceptional Children (EC) Teaching License or eligibility
- North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) licensure in Special Education
- Understanding of IDEA regulations, IEP development, and compliance requirements
- Ability to successfully complete all district onboarding requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children, or a related education field
- Advanced degree considered an asset but not required
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience serving students with mild to moderate disabilities preferred
- Experience implementing behavior intervention strategies and progress monitoring tools is beneficial
- New graduates and recently licensed teachers are encouraged to apply
