Sunbelt Staffing is currently seeking a passionate Education Specialist to support a school district in the San Diego, California area. Primary Responsibilities
- Provide specialized academic instruction to students receiving special education services
- Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to support student achievement
- Adapt curriculum, assignments, and instructional strategies based on individual learning needs
- Utilize data to evaluate student performance and adjust interventions accordingly
- Collaborate with related service providers, administrators, and classroom teachers to promote student success
- Maintain compliant documentation, progress monitoring records, and student reports
- Foster a supportive classroom environment that encourages confidence, independence, and engagement
Preferred Skills
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with students and families
- Effective communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple student plans and deadlines
- Experience implementing behavior support strategies within the classroom
Required Qualifications
- Active California Education Specialist Instruction Credential
- Authorization to teach students with disabilities in the state of California
- Familiarity with IEP development, IDEA regulations, and California special education compliance
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary educational teams
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or Education required
- Additional certifications or graduate coursework in Special Education are a plus
Experience
- Previous experience in a K-12 special education setting preferred
- Experience supporting students with mild/moderate or extensive support needs is beneficial
- New credentialed teachers are encouraged to apply
