Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment in a feed and grain milling environment. You will work primarily on a 3rd shift schedule with flexibility to support other shifts as needed, including overtime and some weekends. The position requires a seasoned maintenance professional with strong mechanical and electrical skills, particularly in start controls, VFDs, motors, and industrial machinery used in a production setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment such as conveyor belts, variable frequency drives (VFDs), gear boxes, bearings, and start controls.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues on motors, pumps, and related control systems to ensure continuous and safe operation.
- Re-wire pumps and perform electrical wiring tasks in accordance with safety standards and company procedures.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair gear boxes, bearings, and other mechanical components to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Execute preventative maintenance (PM) activities on all assigned equipment, documenting work performed and identifying potential issues before they lead to failures.
- Use basic PC skills to access maintenance systems, record work orders, log repairs, and track preventative maintenance schedules.
- Collaborate with a small maintenance crew to prioritize and complete daily and weekly maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Support production operations by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and performing effective root cause analysis.
- Work safely at all times, following all safety procedures and guidelines, and help maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adjust to flexible work hours, including overtime and weekend shifts, to support production demands and ensure equipment reliability.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance within an industrial environment, feed and grain facility, or milling operation.
- Strong electrical experience with hands-on experience working with start controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and motors.
- Ability to re-wire pumps and perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs on industrial equipment.
- Mechanical proficiency working with gear boxes, bearings, conveyor systems, and related mechanical components.
- Demonstrated experience performing preventative maintenance (PM) on industrial equipment.
- Basic PC skills to enter data, complete maintenance records, and navigate maintenance-related software or systems.
- Steady work history that reflects reliability, strong work ethic, and commitment to the job.
- Safety-conscious mindset with the ability to follow and promote safe work practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
- Willingness to work 3rd shift and adjust to flexible hours, including overtime and weekend work as needed.
