Empower students and help shape inclusive learning environments in contract roles supporting elementary and middle school learners with special education needs near Aurora, IL.
Two opportunities are available:
- Support students within a self-contained Structured Teaching and Learning Room (STLR) program for those with Autism and Functional Communication needs at the elementary level, managing a maximum caseload of 10-13 students in a full-time capacity.
- Collaborate as a co-teacher in Supported Education at the middle school level, partnering with another educator to instruct and guide a caseload of up to 13 students.
Key Qualifications:
- Special Education Teacher certification (valid for schools in Illinois)
- Strong experience or background working with students diagnosed with Autism and significant communication needs
- Familiarity with evidence-based instructional strategies and classroom management skills for specialized populations
- Comfortable collaborating within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, organization, and adaptability
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and adapt individualized educational plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s unique needs
- Create, monitor, and adjust behavioral and academic interventions for students in structured classroom environments
- Establish clear communication with families and other professionals regarding student progress and support needs
- Foster a positive and safe classroom environment that promotes student success and independence
- Contribute to co-teaching models and support inclusion within the school community
