Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Sonographer / Vascular Sonographer to provide portable ultrasound services to patients in nursing homes, post-acute care facilities, home-care settings, and other assigned locations throughout the Albany, GA service area.
This position is ideal for a registered sonographer who enjoys independent work, mobile patient care, and a variety of clinical environments.
A company vehicle is provided for work-related travel.
-> Key Responsibilities
- Travel to assigned patient locations to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations using portable equipment.
- Perform technically competent and diagnostically appropriate ultrasound studies.
- Complete vascular and other assigned ultrasound examinations according to physician orders.
- Verify physician orders and ensure the requested examination matches the patient's documented orders before beginning the study.
- Confirm patient identity using two appropriate patient identifiers.
- Obtain high-quality diagnostic images and transmit studies electronically to radiologists for interpretation.
- Complete required examination documentation, requisitions, billing paperwork, and technical comments.
- Communicate professionally with facility staff, dispatch, call center personnel, radiologists, supervisors, and healthcare teams.
- Respond promptly to urgent communications and changes in the daily case schedule.
- Maintain portable ultrasound equipment and report equipment issues promptly.
- Safely transport ultrasound equipment between the company vehicle and patient-care locations.
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety, HIPAA, and professional standards.
- Maintain required credentials, health screenings, and employment documentation.
- Participate in meetings, training, and continuing education as required.
- Work independently with minimal direct supervision while maintaining strong productivity and quality standards.
-> Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography/Ultrasound Technology program.
- Current ARDMS or CCI registration for vascular ultrasound required.
- Vascular/Echo modality experience required.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license required.
- Ability to travel independently between multiple patient-care locations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a changing daily caseload.
- Basic computer and smartphone skills.
- Ability to safely transport portable ultrasound equipment.
- Successful completion of required background check and drug screening.
- Ability to meet required occupational health and infection-control requirements.
-> Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mobile or bedside diagnostic imaging.
- Experience working with nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, home-care patients, or other post-acute populations.
- Experience with vascular ultrasound.
- Additional ARDMS credentials.
- Experience working independently in the field.
- Familiarity with local geography and travel routes.
