CNC Programmer / Engineering Technician
Commercial Architectural Millwork
Brooklyn Woodworking is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / Engineering Technician to join our growing team. We are a leading architectural millwork manufacturer specializing in high-end commercial and residential projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.
This is not an entry-level CNC operator position. We are looking for someone who understands the complete engineering process—from architectural drawings to CNC-ready production.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain CNC programs using Microvellum or Mozaik
- Generate nested CNC files for cabinet and custom millwork production
- Review architectural drawings and shop drawings for manufacturability
- Develop machining strategies to maximize material yield and production efficiency
- Produce cut lists, machining files, labels, and production documentation
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineering, and production teams
- Support field measurements when engineering verification is required
- Troubleshoot CNC programming and manufacturing issues
- Continuously improve production workflows and standard construction methods
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of CNC programming experience in architectural millwork or custom cabinetry
- Strong experience with Microvellum or Mozaik (Microvellum experience strongly preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
- Experience with CNC routers, nested-based manufacturing, and cabinet construction
- Understanding of machining operations, tooling, and material optimization
- Strong knowledge of plywood construction, hardware, and assembly methods
- Experience with AutoCAD is highly desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience programming custom commercial millwork
- Knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes
- Experience with nested-based CNC manufacturing
- Ability to develop and improve engineering standards
- Familiarity with modern woodworking equipment and production workflows
