- Controller-level experience in a government defense contract environment
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Costpoint government software experience and strong Microsoft Office Suite skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
FULL DESCRIPTION: The Controller serves as a strategic financial leader and trusted business partner responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of the organization while supporting its continued growth and long-term success. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this executive-level role provides leadership across all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, government contract compliance, and internal control functions to ensure accurate financial stewardship and sound business decision-making. The Controller partners closely with executive leadership to deliver meaningful financial insights, drive operational excellence, strengthen internal controls, optimize financial performance, and ensure full compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and all applicable government contracting regulations. This individual will lead a high-performing accounting organization, champion continuous process improvement, and play a critical role in scaling the finance function to support the Company's strategic objectives while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and operational excellence.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic financial leadership by directing accounting operations, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal control functions
- Leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing accounting organization
- Fostering accountability, collaboration, operational excellence, and continuous professional growth
- Ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting
- Maintaining compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and applicable government contracting regulations
- Serving as a trusted financial advisor to executive leadership
- Providing actionable financial insights, strategic analysis, forecasting, and recommendations to support business decisions and profitable growth
- Establishing, maintaining, and enhancing internal controls, accounting policies, and financial governance
- Safeguarding company assets, mitigating risk, and strengthening operational performance
- Directing core accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Leading treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity planning, banking relationships, cash forecasting, and working capital strategies
- Driving annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Monitoring organizational performance through financial metrics, variance analysis, and executive reporting
- Championing process improvement initiatives using technology, automation, and best practices
- Improving efficiency, scalability, and financial controls across the organization
- Serving as the primary financial representative with external auditors, DCAA, DCMA, financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders
- Overseeing government contract accounting activities, including indirect rate development, incurred cost submissions, pricing support, proposal development, and contract financial compliance
- Leading tax compliance strategy in partnership with external CPA and tax advisory firms
- Supporting timely filings, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and proactive tax planning
- Directing annual financial, retirement plan, insurance, and regulatory audits
- Coordinating cross-functional audit efforts and managing external relationships
- Partnering with Operations, Contracts, Program Management, Human Resources, and executive leadership
- Providing financial guidance that supports contract performance, profitability, and organizational growth
- Building and scaling the accounting function to support continued expansion
- Maintaining strong financial discipline, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence
- Performing other duties as assigned
