We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Patient Care Coordinator in Bakersfield, California. In this role, you will be part of a healthcare team, responsible for handling various aspects of patient registration, adhering to healthcare regulatory laws, and ensuring excellent customer service. Your workplace will be in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, including emergency room and OB ED environments.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately and efficiently process patient registrations, including collecting patient demographics and co-pays
• Handle billing tasks to insurance providers, ensuring proper CPT codes are used
• Identify the correct insurances to bill and follow all necessary procedures
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPPA, and other healthcare regulatory laws
• Provide exceptional customer service in high-pressure situations, such as in emergency room environments
• Assist in meeting department financial goals and facility compliance goals
• Adhere to the department's dress code policy, as well as all relevant state laws regarding mandatory lunch and breaks
• Support the new service line of Labor and Delivery ED OB ED, aiming to service this area 24/7
• Utilize strong typing skills (minimum 45 words per minute) to maintain accurate records and perform other duties as assigned.• Proficient in Customer Service, with the ability to provide exceptional support to patients and their families
• Knowledge of Policy and Compliance in a healthcare setting, ensuring all practices align with regulations
• Experience with Workstation Support, assisting in the maintenance of office systems and technologies
• Familiarity with Regulatory Law as it pertains to the healthcare industry
• Experience in Billing, specifically within a healthcare environment
• Ability to Perform Ad Hoc Financial tasks as required
• Knowledge of HealthCare.gov and its functions
• Understanding of R Code, and its application in healthcare data analysis
• Comprehensive knowledge of Health Care systems, practices, and procedures
• Experience in Offshore coordination, if required by the organization
• Familiarity with CPT Codes and their application in medical billing
• Ability to handle Patient Demographic information with discretion and confidentiality
• Experience in Patient Registration, including the collection and verification of patient information
• Understanding of Revenue Cycle Processes in a healthcare setting
• Knowledge of State Laws as they pertain to healthcare practice
• Familiarity with TRICARE health program
• Experience with NIS (Nurse Information System) or similar healthcare systems.
