LHH is assisting our Newark, New Jersey client in their search for an Accounts Payable Specialist. Experience in the manufacturing industry and with inventory are required. A strong understanding of cargo, freight, and imports are also a must. This position reports onsite in Newark five days per week.
Job Description:
Invoice Processing: Receive and process invoices and supporting documents; enter invoices and credit card transactions.
Vendor Communication: Respond promptly to emails and phone calls from vendors.
Reconciliation: Verify entries and reconcile processed work by comparing system reports with balances.
Expense Management: Allocate expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice and expense reports; record necessary entries.
Vendor Payments: Manage vendor payments by monitoring discount opportunities, verifying federal ID numbers, scheduling and preparing checks, resolving discrepancies in purchase orders, contracts, invoices, or payments, and ensuring credits for outstanding memos.
Account Maintenance: Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting transactions.
Account Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor accounts by reviewing monthly statements and related transactions.
Document Management: Maintain historical records by scanning and filing documents.
Sales Tax Reporting: Calculate and report sales taxes on paid invoices.
Account Management: Manage suspense accounts and inventory payables.
Expense Tracking: Use Excel to track expenses on a monthly basis.
Payment Investigation: Communicate with vendors to investigate outstanding payments.
Month-End Closings: Assist the accounting team with month-end closing activities.
Qualifications:
3+ years of Accounts Payable experience
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Experience in the manufacturing industry and with inventory are required.
A strong understanding of cargo, freight, and imports are a must
Ability to prioritize and multi task in a fast paced environment
Detail oriented
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
Pay Range: $25/hr-$30/hr DOE
Schedule: 5 days onsite
