The Astor Learning Center (ALC) is a therapeutic school for children facing educational, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The ALC provides a nurturing learning environment where children who have often experienced failure in school can finally succeed.
Requirements:
- Initial/Permanent NYSED Special Education Teacher certification. BA/MS Experience preferred.
Salary Range: 48,000-55,000/yr
Job Summary:
Join our team in the delivery of special education programming in collaboration with a dynamic partnership with clinical services in a school aged program. We provide small class sizes, ongoing supervision, and a comprehensive holistic approach to grade levels from kindergarten through eighth grade. This candidate will be responsible for the delivery of educational services to children in a classroom setting in a lead role. Some of the other duties include making sure required reports on students are substantial and current, providing students with a clear understanding of classroom structure and schedule to utilize class time effectively, and inspiring and motivating students to develop according to their abilities, while providing for all health and safety considerations. Through a wide variety of premier quality education and mental health services, Astor provides support for pre-schoolers, children with behavioral and emotional health problems, children at risk of placement in foster care, and families that need assistance in developing the skills necessary to raise their children in an environment filled with increasing challenges.
