Virtual Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education, experience working with diverse student populations, and the ability to provide effective instruction and support in a virtual environment. As a Virtual Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering individualized instruction, collaborating with families and support teams, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that instructional goals and accommodations are tailored to meet their unique learning needs.
- Deliver virtual instruction using a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and resources to engage students and facilitate active participation in learning activities.
- Provide ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to measure student learning outcomes and adjust instructional strategies as needed to support student growth and achievement.
- Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other members of the student's support team to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting student learning and success in a virtual environment.
- Utilize assistive technologies and adaptive materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote accessibility for students with disabilities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and communication with families and support teams, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Participate in professional development activities and training to enhance knowledge and skills in special education best practices, virtual instruction, and technology integration.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, and promotes social-emotional learning and self-advocacy skills for students with disabilities.
- Communicate regularly with students, families, and support teams via virtual meetings, phone calls, emails, and other forms of communication to provide feedback, guidance, and support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid Utah teaching license or ability to obtain appropriate certification
- Previous experience teaching students with disabilities, preferably in a virtual or remote setting
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
- Proficiency in using virtual learning platforms, educational technology tools, and assistive technologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and support teams
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in education
- Ability to pass a background check and meet other employment requirements
