We are in search of a Payroll and Absence Manager for a long-term contract role with a large firm, stationed in Bridgewater, New Jersey. As the Payroll and Absence Manager, you will be tasked with the management and execution of payroll for a large number of employees, among other duties. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity. Strong experience with multi-state payroll tax is required. Experience with Workday is highly preferred. This role can be fully remote.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the processing of bi-weekly and monthly payroll for a large number of employees, including retirees.
• Ensure accurate reconciliation and verification of on-cycle, off-cycle, and retro payroll data, including payroll file maintenance, and the preparation of regular reports of earnings, deductions, withholdings, and taxes.
• Analyze and resolve all payroll discrepancies, providing reports to management as required.
• Participate in end-of-month closing procedures and audits, including reviewing annual changes to tax regulations and their impact on system configuration.
• Conduct quarterly reviews for W-2s and other activities in collaboration with the Finance Team.
• Oversee the processing of year-end payrolls and finalize W-2s as part of year-end activities.
• Manage the processing of annual stock lapse exercises at the beginning of the year, in partnership with the Finance team.
• Resolve escalated payroll issues, and provide expert payroll knowledge such as special/unique payrolls.
• Ensure compliance with policies, regulations, wage tax laws, segregation of duties, SOX, DOL, and other federal and state legislation impacting payroll.
• Provide direction, coaching, and leadership to assigned payroll staff.
• Undertake additional projects and duties as required.
• Demonstrated expertise in Payroll Taxes and Payroll Tax Reporting
• Proven experience in Absence Management
• Proficiency in using Workday and Workday Payroll systems
• Holds a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage and lead a team effectively
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
