Our growing firm needs an experience paralegal who can roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to deliver a stellar client experience. You will work in an empowered environment that encourages your growth.
What You Will Be Doing:
* Sending initial correspondence and sympathy cards to family members
* Performing or arranging for asset valuation when appropriate
* Preparing documents including: 1. Asset lists, trust allocation to A/B Trusts, A/B/C Trusts, or to Beneficiaries; 2. Probate documents, Fededral and State Tax Forms and other returns as needed; 3. Affidavits of Death and other appropriate Deeds
* Working with clients to set specific deadlines and following up diligently to see necessary tasks through
* Identifying opportunities for additional legal services which arrise during the course of the relationship with the clients. These may include: changes in the client's estate plan, power of attorney documents, and estate planning services for the surviving family members who do not currently have a plan, etc.
* Attending closing meetings and arranging for witnesses and/or notary services
* Backup Final Signing Paralegal: Review estate plann with clients during Phone Final, including following up on missing asset information and confirming final appointment and balance of fees, may assemble portfolio binders, including printing and copying and any other task required to make delivery to the client, review estate plan dcument with clients at final meeting, collect final fees and conduct signing ceremony, which includes arranging for witnesses and notarizing the documents, etc.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate must have a minimum of two years or progressive legal experience performing paralegal or legal assistant work including: drafting and reviewing legal documents experience, preferably in a trust/estate planning law office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· At least 2 years of progressive legal experience performing paralegal or legal assistant work including: drafting and reviewing legal documents
· Experience interacting with clients via phone, email, and in-person preferred
· Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Slack. Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications required
· Associate degree in paralegal studies or equivalent experience required
· Experience using Actionstep or similar practice management software desired
· Willingness to become a California Notary
· Professional appearance and friendly demeanor
· Ability to self-direct and prioritize work to meet internal and external deadlines w/other team members
