Job Title: Medical Biller

General Description: Responsible for the timely submission of professional medical claims to insurance companies. Clarifies Insurance or self-pay information to the patients.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares and submits clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
• Explains in detail to patient financial contracts, depending on patient’s age group, and treatment plan.
• Answer all patient or insurance telephone, email inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
• Identifies and resolves patient billing complaints.
• Prepares, reviews and sends patient statements.
• Evaluates patient’s insurance/financial status and establishes schedule when payment/deductible, co-insurance is due.
• Processes payments from insurance companies and prepares daily transaction report for deposit. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.
• Participates in educational activities and attends monthly staff meetings.
• Responsible for, posting and managing account payments.
• Responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies.
• Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness and obtain any missing information. Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
• All accounts are to be reviewed for insurance or patient follow-up
• Process refund requests, and process monthly credit card payments.
• Collects all payment when due.

Education:
Associate Degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of business and accounting processes. Certification from an accredited medical and billing school.

Experience: Minimum of 1 to 3 years in a medical office setting.
