Expert Staffing West is seeking for CNC Lathe Machinist (2nd Shift)

Full-time (40 hours/week)

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 2:15pm to 10:45pm (second shift)

Location: Poway, CA

Fabricate aerospace and gas turbine components made from exotic metals. Certified to ISO 9001 and AS9100. We are a high tolerance, technology-driven company that employs 5-axis milling, turning, water jet cutting, all forms of EDM, etc.

Projects we have worked on include: Mars Rover, James Webb Space Telescope, Electromagnetic systems aka Rail Gun, Turbine Engines, and much more!

Position Summary/Objective:

The purpose of this position is to support the department’s ability to achieve its goals and objectives. This includes the safe and efficient operation of a CNC machine allowing for the achievement of customer expectations for quality and on-time delivery. Other duties may be assigned as needed. This position will report to the Department Lead and the Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Set up and Operate CNC machine for the cutting of metallic materials.

· Tool life management

· Interpret blueprints, sketches/shop drawings, and engineering specifications.

· Perform 1st piece, in-process and last piece inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparators, various gauges according to process documentation.

· Perform operator maintenance.

· Diagnose and correct equipment or tool issues.

· Perform basic de-burr or rework of work in-process.

· Make recommendations to optimize and improve assigned processes.

· Maintain work station to 5S standards.

· Perform all work according to Advanced Machining and Tooling safety standards.

· Comply with all Advanced Machining and Tooling policies and procedures.

· This job operates in the production area.

Physical Demands

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· This is largely a sedentary role when deburring. This roll will routinely perform tedious operations requiring hand and finger dexterity.

· When shipping/receiving this position will stand at least 95% of the scheduled shift.

· This position will carry parts and material up to 50 pounds.

· This position will work the forklift or use another technique to bring in anything that is over 50 pounds.

· This position requires lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds.

· Routinely perform reaching, twisting, bending and grasping in order to package/unpackage parts, move and set tools, equipment and material.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

· This is a full-time non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 2:15pm -10:45pm.

· Additional work may be necessary either on a daily basis or on weekends.

Required Education and Experience

· 5+ years of Aerospace and Defense CNC machining experience

· Tool life management experience required

· Awareness of general safety, and quality systems.

· Ability to read, write and interpret written instructions, blueprints, shop drawings and engineering specifications in English

· Proficient use of basic shop arithmetic

· Experience using G and M codes required

· Experience with 3-axis machine set up and operation is required.

· Must be able to understand CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine) reports.

· High School Diploma or GED
