Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and proactive Controls Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in robotics programming, particularly with FANUC M and R series robots, and have experience in PLC programming using Allen Bradley RSLogix or Siemens SL series. This role requires an individual with a hands-on approach, who can identify opportunities for continuous improvement, provide support to assembly operators, and ensure the reliability of our production equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Continuous Improvement: Take initiative to identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in production processes.
Support & Training: Provide training and support to assembly operators, ensuring efficient and effective use of equipment.
Cycle Time & Throughput Improvement: Optimize production by adjusting tooling or functions to improve cycle time and throughput.
Robotics Programming & Troubleshooting: Program and troubleshoot robotic systems, with a preference for experience with FANUC M and R series robots.
System Upgrades & Recommendations: Recommend hardware and software changes, as well as upgrades to existing systems, to enhance performance and reliability.
Waste Elimination: Devise and implement efficient systems that integrate workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to eliminate waste in production processes.
Controls Systems Assessments: Perform regular assessments of control systems to maintain and improve equipment reliability.
Machine Specification Development: Assist in developing machine specifications to meet production needs.
Equipment Integration & Debugging: Perform integration, start-up, and debugging of new plant floor equipment.
Series Production Support: Provide support for series production activities as needed, especially in response to controls and maintenance priorities.
PLC Programming: Program PLCs using Allen Bradley RSLogix or Siemens SL series to ensure efficient and reliable equipment operation.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates degree or Trade school certification in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Automation, Mechatronics, or a comparable field.
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years of experience in an automotive (parts) manufacturing environment.
Experience in a Just-In-Time (JIT) production environment is preferred.
Knowledge and experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and Automated Guided Carts (AGC).
Experience with Keyence cameras, barcode readers, and sensors.
Project management experience in new automation installations is helpful.
