We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented accounting specialist to support financial operations in a manufacturing environment in California. This role focuses on maintaining accurate reporting, strengthening internal controls, and delivering analysis that helps leaders make informed business decisions. The position works closely with operations and corporate partners on inventory, fixed assets, cost activity, and month-end processes.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee capital spending activities by tracking requests, reviewing financial impact, and helping ensure proper approval and accounting treatment.
• Administer the fixed asset function, including asset records, capitalization, depreciation accuracy, and coordination with corporate teams.
• Prepare and post journal entries tied to the monthly and year-end close process while meeting a fast-paced reporting schedule.
• Create recurring financial reports and performance summaries for leadership, highlighting trends, risks, and operational results.
• Partner on physical inventory activities and support inventory control efforts to improve accuracy across the facility.
• Review inventory-related transactions such as scrap, adjustments, variances, standard cost changes, overhead allocations, and excess or obsolete balances.
• Develop and evaluate operational reports covering items such as scrap performance, unavailable inventory, ad hoc analysis, and work order closure follow-up.
• Provide backup support for bi-weekly hourly payroll submission and cycle count coordination when needed.
• Assist with financial analysis for capital projects and other investment-related evaluations, using internal systems to assess operating and financial performance.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Experience with manufacturing accounting concepts, including cost accounting, fixed assets, and inventory.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Familiarity with financial statement audits and internal control practices; knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley is preferred.
• Exposure to reporting and analytics tools, including Power BI, is preferred.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
