Job Title: Maintenance Engineer (Third Shift)Job DescriptionThis third shift Maintenance Engineer role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting automated industrial equipment in a clean food production environment. You will use a balanced electrical and mechanical skill set to ensure reliable operation of machinery, support production uptime, and contribute to a strong, long-term, family-oriented culture on the maintenance team.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial production equipment during third shift to ensure reliable and safe operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on automated machinery.
- Support automation systems by performing PLC troubleshooting and basic adjustments to maintain efficient equipment performance.
- Work with ammonia refrigeration systems as needed, following established safety procedures and guidelines.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Inspect equipment regularly and identify opportunities for improvement, repair, or replacement to increase reliability.
- Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work orders and support continuous operations.
- Document maintenance work performed, including parts used, issues identified, and corrective actions taken.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and facility cleanliness standards while working in a food production environment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including hair and beard nets, and adhere to all safety and hygiene policies.
- Support a positive, family-oriented culture by communicating clearly, working cooperatively, and committing to long-term success with the team.
Essential Skills- At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience with a strong balance of electrical and mechanical skills.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial electrical systems, including motors, controls, and automation components.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, including conveyors, gearboxes, and production machinery.
- Practical knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.
- Experience with automation equipment and systems in a production setting.
- Ability to perform PLC troubleshooting to support automated machinery operation.
- Comfort working in a food production environment and following strict hygiene and safety standards.
- Willingness and ability to work third shift (10:00 pm – 6:30 am) Monday through Friday, with weekend work as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under time-sensitive conditions.
- Good tenure and a demonstrated history of reliability and commitment in previous roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- PLC and mechanical skill set with the ability to support both disciplines effectively.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
- Prior experience in the food industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with highly automated production environments and working around multiple automated machines.
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and production staff.
