Job Title: Maintenance Technician – Robotics and AutomationJob DescriptionThis role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated production equipment, with a strong emphasis on robotics, PLC controls, and electro-mechanical systems. You will work with advanced automation technologies to keep equipment running safely, efficiently, and reliably in a clean, controlled environment.
Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on automated equipment, including robotics, PLC-controlled machinery, and assembly machines to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 3-phase power, 480V circuits, AC/DC motors, motor controls, VFDs, servo motors, and related components.
- Diagnose and resolve PLC control issues, including input/output problems, sensor faults, and automation sequence errors to restore equipment to proper operation.
- Maintain and repair Fanuc robotic systems, ensuring proper operation, calibration, and integration with automation controls and safety systems.
- Support and troubleshoot vision systems such as Keyence and Cognex to ensure accurate inspection, detection, and alignment within automated processes.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including cylinders, valves, actuators, and associated mechanical components.
- Use electrical and mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to identify issues and perform accurate, safe repairs.
- Perform assembly machine repair, including mechanical adjustments, component replacement, and alignment to ensure consistent production quality.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability and reduce repeat issues.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support equipment changeovers, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow established maintenance procedures, safety standards, and documentation practices when performing all work.
- Fabricate or modify minor components, brackets, or supports as needed to improve equipment function and reliability.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support traceability and equipment history.
- Support compliance with regulated maintenance practices, particularly when working in environments that follow GMP or FDA-related standards.
Essential Skills- Hands-on experience with Fanuc robotics, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and basic programming or adjustments.
- Strong robotics experience, specifically in a production or automated manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting and control systems, including diagnosing faults and resolving issues in automated equipment.
- Demonstrated experience with electrical troubleshooting, including 3-phase power, 480V systems, AC/DC motors, and motor control circuits.
- Ability to work with servo motors, VFDs, and related motion control equipment.
- Experience with vision systems such as Keyence and Cognex, including setup support, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Practical experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, including mechanical maintenance and repair of related systems.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams to guide repairs and modifications.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on automated machinery and production equipment.
- Background in assembly machine repair, including mechanical and electrical components.
- Strong general electrical skills, including safe work practices and adherence to established procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills sufficient to support equipment maintenance and improvement projects.
- Experience with GMP or FDA maintenance environments is a plus, particularly regarding documentation and compliance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Prior experience working in a regulated environment that follows GMP or FDA guidelines is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with maintenance practices in clean, controlled manufacturing environments.
- Comfort working with sensors, automation controls, and integrated control systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and engineering.
