Kyle Clarke with Robert Half of Buffalo is looking for a Senior Accountant to join a respected organization in Buffalo, New York, where accuracy, teamwork, and sound financial judgment are highly valued. Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end closing activities, including preparing entries, reviewing balances, and ensuring financial records are completed on schedule.

• Maintain the general ledger by analyzing account activity and posting accurate journal entries in accordance with established accounting standards.

• Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts and key balance sheet accounts to resolve discrepancies and support clean financial reporting.

• Review and process approved invoices to ensure expenses are recorded properly and aligned with internal policies and funding requirements.

• Assist with budget tracking and financial analysis by comparing actual results to planned spending and identifying notable variances.

• Support preparation of financial statements and other reporting packages for leadership, funders, or regulatory purposes.

• Apply nonprofit and fund accounting principles when recording transactions and monitoring restricted and unrestricted funds.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather financial data, improve reporting accuracy, and meet recurring deadlines.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
• Three or more years of accounting experience required.
• Knowledge of nonprofit tax-exempt accounting procedures and generally accepted accounting principles required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with outstanding attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.
