This role focuses on MIG welding mild steel to fabricate beams that will be assembled at construction sites. You will interpret blueprints, perform production welding, and support fabrication and grinding tasks to ensure high-quality structural components are produced safely and efficiently.

• Perform MIG welding on mild steel to fabricate beams and structural components according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine measurements, weld locations, and fabrication requirements.
• Set up welding equipment and ensure proper parameters for MIG welding on mild steel.
• Conduct production welding in a shop environment while maintaining consistent quality and output.
• Perform basic TIG welding when required, ensuring proper technique and adherence to specifications.
• Fabricate parts as needed, including cutting, fitting, and preparing materials for welding.
• Grind welded parts to smooth and finish surfaces, remove imperfections, and meet quality standards.
• Inspect welds and finished components for accuracy, structural integrity, and adherence to blueprints.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and shop guidelines.
• Collaborate with other welders, machine operators, and fabricators to complete projects on schedule.

• Proficiency in MIG welding on mild steel in a production or fabrication environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• Strong understanding of welding safety practices and proper use of welding equipment.
• Experience with production welding and working to consistent quality standards.
• Basic ability to perform TIG welding when needed.
• Competence in grinding welded parts to achieve required finish and tolerances.
• Completion of 2 years of welding school or equivalent formal welding education.

• Experience in fabrication, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components, is a plus.
• Background in machine operating within a metalworking or fabrication environment is beneficial.
• Prior experience with grinding operations to finish and prepare welded parts is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions and blueprints.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small shop team and support others as needed.

You will work in a collaborative shop environment alongside experienced welders, machine operators, and fabricators, providing opportunities to learn and expand your skills. The consistent first-shift schedule supports work-life balance, while the variety of welding, fabrication, and finishing tasks helps you grow as a well-rounded tradesperson.

This position operates on a first-shift schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., in a shop setting with approximately 15 colleagues, including welders, machine operators, and fabricators. The work involves hands-on welding, fabrication, and grinding on mild steel components using MIG welding equipment and occasional TIG welding. The environment is industrial and production-focused, with an emphasis on safety and teamwork. Steel-toed boots are required, and you must provide your own welding gear appropriate for shop work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SAINT AUGUSTA, MN.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr.
