Electrical Technician - San Diego, CA (1st Shift)
Job Description
- We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to inspect, test, repair, and troubleshoot electrical equipment primarily within our shipyard facility and occasionally onboard vessels. The role involves installing and maintaining electrical equipment in compliance with shipyard standards.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, repair, and troubleshoot electrical equipment in the shipyard and occasionally onboard vessels.
- Install and maintain electrical equipment according to shipyard standards.
- Mount equipment on foundations, cabinets, power panels, PLC controllers, and motor controllers, and connect electrical systems to equipment.
- Conduct commissioning and testing functions for electrical equipment, including cold insulation checks, continuity checks, physical inspections, initial light-off testing, and final operational testing.
- Test equipment such as motors and controllers, generators, switchboards, power panels, load centers, MCCS, PLCs, tank level indicators, motor-operated valves, public address systems, fire detection systems, sound-powered and dial telephone systems, galley equipment, HVAC controls, and machinery controllers.
Essential Skills
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
- Ability to perform layout and install electrical equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical theory and wiring practices.
- Ability to read cable and wire color codes with precision.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Skill in using electrical test equipment and hand/power tools.
- Ability to work 1st shift (0630 - 1530) and at heights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with hand/power tools and electrical test equipment.
- Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions, safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.
- Ability to hear warning signals.

Work Environment
- Work primarily in a shipyard facility focused on the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. The role does not involve ship boarding work. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 0630 to 1530.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
