Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting a self-contained classroom for K-2 students with significant disabilities. Located near Chicago, IL, this contract opportunity begins August 11, 2026 and is anticipated to continue through September 23, 2026 or longer. You'll work a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:15 PM. The classroom serves four students who participate in core subjects within a supportive setting and integrate into general education classes for select activities. Paraprofessionals are dedicated to your classroom, providing essential support throughout each day.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Special Education (SPED) license required
• Experience working with students with significant disabilities is highly valued
• Ability to effectively collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including paraprofessionals and general education teachers
• Knowledge of current best practices in individualized and differentiated instruction
• Strong skills in communication, patience, and adaptability

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction for core academic subjects to K-2 students in a self-contained classroom setting
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to create an inclusive, nurturing environment
• Communicate regularly with families and other staff regarding student progress
• Integrate students into general education classrooms for parts of their day, partnering with peers and staff to support successful transitions
