Job Details

• Position: Special Education Teacher
• Location: Winnetka, IL (North Chicago Area)
• Schedule: Full-Time, 35 hours per week
• School Year: August 27, 2026 – June 11, 2027
• Work Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Breaks: 30-minute unpaid lunch and two unpaid 15-minute breaks

Caseload

• Grade Levels: Elementary (Kindergarten–4th Grade)
• Student Caseload: Approximately 8–12 students
• Classroom Model: Resource Program
  • Pull-out instruction providing direct academic support
  • Push-in services within general education classrooms
• Provide both academic intervention and social-emotional support to students with individualized education plans (IEPs)

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Deliver specialized instruction in a resource setting through both pull-out and push-in services
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
• Support students' academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral goals
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration
• Foster an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment

Licensure Required:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with the appropriate Special Education endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:

• Orton-Gillingham training or certification preferred
• Experience with structured literacy programs such as:
  • Orton-Gillingham
  • SLANT
  • Wilson Reading System
  • Sonday System
• Previous experience working with elementary-aged students in a resource classroom preferred
