Job Description
The Field Technician supports nationwide, short-term projects lasting 1 to 4 weeks, installing and applying abrasion-resistant products and industrial wear solutions at customer sites across a variety of power, construction, manufacturing, and industrial facilities. This role uses company-provided power tools and hand tools, works closely with a small team, and requires frequent travel and a strong willingness to learn, work extended hours, and adapt to changing job sites and conditions.
Example during their busy season, their field service techs averaged 48 nights away from home in a 4 month span, highest was 78 nights and the lowest was 31 nights
Responsibilities
- Travel across the country by plane and truck to complete 1–4 week field projects at customer sites.
- Install and apply various abrasion-resistant products and industrial wear solutions to client equipment and structures.
- Use a wide range of hand tools and power tools provided by the company to perform mechanical and installation tasks safely and efficiently.
- Work in diverse industrial environments, including construction, manufacturing, cement plants, power generation plants, steel facilities, mining operations, and agricultural facilities.
- Collaborate closely with a crew of 4–6 team members, maintaining clear communication and coordination throughout each project.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including OSHA and MSHA standards, to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and the team.
- Stay on task, follow supervisor instructions, and complete assigned work within project timelines and quality standards.
- Adapt to working in a variety of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and noisy industrial settings.
- Perform general labor and construction-related duties such as material handling, basic mechanical work, and site cleanup as needed.
- Contribute to welding, concrete, and cement-related tasks when required, depending on project scope and your skill set.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, teammates, and site personnel to report progress, issues, and safety concerns.
- Work in the shop when not traveling to support ongoing projects, maintain equipment, and ensure consistent weekly hours.
Essential Skills
- Experience in skilled trades such as construction, concrete, cement, welding, or general mechanical work.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in an industrial or construction environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the country by plane and truck for 1–4 week assignments.
- Comfort working long hours and maintaining focus on tasks in a fast-paced, project-based setting.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work closely with a crew of 4–6 people on job sites.
- Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate work and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Commitment to safety practices and willingness to follow OSHA and MSHA guidelines.
- Physical ability to perform general labor, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working in varied weather conditions.
- Motivated, “go-getter” attitude with eagerness to learn new skills and take on challenging work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in concrete, cement, welding, or construction is highly beneficial.
- Experience with MIG welding is a plus.
- OSHA 10 certification is an asset.
- MSHA certification is a plus; candidates will receive MSHA training and certification before traveling if they are not already certified.
- Bilingual abilities are preferred and considered an advantage on diverse job sites.
- Prior experience working in industrial environments such as cement plants, power generation plants, steel facilities, mining operations, or agricultural plants is beneficial.
