Job Title: Shipping ClerkJob DescriptionThe Shipping Clerk accurately processes incoming and outgoing shipments, maintains detailed shipping records, and performs data entry and filing to ensure products are shipped on time and to the correct locations. This role focuses on documentation, verification, and inventory of shipping materials rather than material handling, while working closely with warehouse operations in a large, organized distribution environment.
Responsibilities- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing identifying information, counts, weights, or measurements against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
- Keep accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring documentation is complete and properly filed.
- Unpack and examine incoming shipments, reject damaged items, and record any shortages or discrepancies.
- Route received items to the appropriate departments or areas within the facility.
- Examine outgoing shipments to confirm they meet specifications and shipping requirements.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies, ensuring adequate stock to support shipping activities.
- Perform data entry and filing to track shipments and inventory, ensuring products are shipped on time and to the correct locations.
- Use ERP/MRP systems or inventory and shipment tracking software to record, update, and monitor shipping and receiving information.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to support efficient distribution processes and resolve shipment issues.
- Optionally operate a forklift or use a hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areas, when needed.
Essential Skills- At least 1 year of shipping and receiving experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience using ERP/MRP systems or inventory and shipment tracking software.
- At least 6 months of data entry or filing experience with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately compare and verify shipment information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain records and manage shipping materials and supplies.
- Ability to identify damaged items and record shortages or discrepancies in shipments.
- Proficiency in basic warehouse and shipping processes, including routing items to appropriate departments.
- Comfort working with computer-based systems for data entry and inventory tracking.
- Basic familiarity with shipping tools and platforms such as Worldship or similar systems.
- Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience working in a warehouse or large distribution facility.
- Knowledge of general inventory control practices and procedures.
- Familiarity with Worldship or comparable shipping software.
- Experience with forklift operation or using hand trucks to move shipments, considered a plus.
- Ability to navigate a large warehouse and coordinate with multiple departments.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with warehouse and production teams.
- Reliability and consistency in meeting shipping deadlines and maintaining accurate records.

Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a large, organized distribution building within the Solid 4 facility. The work takes place primarily in a clean and well-maintained warehouse environment, where employees navigate throughout the entire warehouse to support shipping and receiving activities. The position involves moving through aisles and storage areas and may include working around pallets, production materials, and various fixtures. The role relies on ERP/MRP systems and inventory and shipment tracking software, and may involve the use of forklifts or hand trucks when needed. The environment is structured and process-driven, supporting efficient and accurate distribution operations.
