Job Title: Pump Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on building, assembling, and servicing a wide range of industrial pumps in a dedicated service and assembly shop. You will document all work performed, including detailed reports on findings, repairs, and recommendations, while occasionally handling repair and overhaul projects for pumps returned from the field. The position requires hands-on mechanical work, interpreting work orders and blueprints, and creating unique pump configurations to meet specific operational requirements.
Responsibilities
- Build and assemble pumps in the shop based on work orders, specifications, and blueprints.
- Document all work performed, including detailed reports on findings, repairs, and recommendations.
- Diagnose mechanical issues in pumps and rotating equipment and determine appropriate repair methods.
- Repair, refurbish, overhaul, and dismantle pumps, including vertical and horizontal types, as needed.
- Take various components from different pumps to build unique pump configurations tailored to customer or project requirements.
- Assemble pumps with non-standard or custom configurations, including fabricating internal components when necessary to ensure proper operation.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, and laser alignment equipment to verify tolerances and proper alignment.
- Perform light manual machining tasks, including drilling and tapping, to modify or prepare parts for assembly.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to guide assembly, repair, and modification work.
- Apply knowledge of rotating equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable pump operation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following shop procedures and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with other shop personnel to coordinate work orders and ensure timely completion of projects.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years of experience as a Pump Mechanic in a pump shop environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all types of pumps, including vertical and horizontal configurations.
- Strong knowledge in assembling and repairing rotating equipment.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair mechanical components in industrial machinery.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with repair, refurbish, overhaul, and dismantle processes for pumps.
- Skilled in the use of mechanical measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and similar instruments.
- Ability to perform light manual machining, including drilling and tapping operations.
- Attention to detail in documenting work performed and preparing clear, accurate reports.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working specifically as a Pump Mechanic in a dedicated pump shop.
- Familiarity with precision alignment techniques, including laser alignment.
- Exposure to vibration analysis for rotating equipment is a plus.
- Experience working with a variety of industrial maintenance and industrial machinery applications.
- Ability to fabricate internal pump components when required to achieve unique configurations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a shop setting.

Work Environment

The role involves hands-on, mechanical work at a workbench and on shop equipment, following established safety procedures and shop practices in an industrial setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $92000.00/yr.
