Job Description
The Service Technician plays a critical role in delivering reliable, high‑quality plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and water systems solutions. In this role, you install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment at customer facilities throughout Michigan, serving as a trusted technical resource and representing a strong commitment to safety, integrity, and exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Install, start up, and commission mechanical systems and equipment at customer facilities.
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on pumps and pumping systems, hydronic and plumbing systems, HVAC and mechanical room equipment, and water pressure boosting and fire protection systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues and implement effective corrective actions to restore reliable system operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to plan and execute work accurately.
- Provide on‑site technical support and guidance to contractors, facility owners, consulting engineers, and end users.
- Complete detailed service documentation, including reports and recommendations, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, company policies, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding system conditions, repair options, timelines, and preventive maintenance recommendations.
- Support warranty service requests and coordinate with manufacturers and other stakeholders as needed.
- Participate in ongoing technical training to stay current on equipment, controls, codes, and industry best practices.
- Collaborate closely with internal sales, engineering, and project teams to promote customer satisfaction and long‑term system performance.
Essential Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in mechanical troubleshooting in an industrial, commercial, or facility maintenance environment.
- Proficiency using hand and power tools, including bearing pullers, wrenches, hatchets, and other tools commonly used for mechanical troubleshooting and manufacturing equipment repair.
- Experience performing mechanical maintenance and repair on pumps, mechanical equipment, and facility systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair pump systems and related mechanical components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to systematically identify and resolve equipment issues.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle record and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to customer sites within the defined regional radius.
- Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to accurately document service work, findings, and recommendations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with electrical components such as motor leads and basic wiring.
- Experience in construction or field service environments.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulics, electrical repair, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Comfort using a wide range of hand tools and power tools in the field.
- Prior experience in the HVAC industry or servicing HVAC and mechanical room equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Experience providing technical support to contractors, facility owners, engineers, or end users.
- Familiarity with applicable safety standards, codes, and regulations related to mechanical and building systems.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development.
